Meet Kassidy — a girl who has spent far too long waiting for someone to choose her. 

 

Kassidy is a beautiful Labrador mix with the softest “I love you” eyes and a heart that belongs completely to her people. She is smart, gentle, affectionate, loyal, house-trained, and incredibly well-mannered. She loves to play and explore, but she’s just as happy curled up beside you or lying at your feet while you go about your day.

 

And this brown-eyed girl has some skills! Kassidy knows all of her basic commands, plus an impressive list of adorable tricks: Shake, Hi-Five, Rollover, Go to Bed, “Peek-a-Boo,” she’ll poke her head through your legs, and even “Sneaky-Sneaky,” where she crawls along the floor. Ask her for a “Visit” and she’ll rest her head in your lap. Ask for a “Hug” and she’ll cuddle her head against your shoulder. She can kiss, play tug with her toys, and even  perform to the command “Let Me See You” by putting her paws on your forearms.

 

But what Kassidy does best is love her people.

 

Her story started in an orchard, where she and her three siblings were abandoned as puppies, critically ill with Parvo. Veterinarians didn’t expect her to survive. Kassidy had other plans. She fought her way through, and she and one sister were the only two puppies to make it.

 

Unfortunately, her first home wasn’t the happy ending she deserved. Living with numerous other dogs, Kassidy was repeatedly bullied and eventually had to return to the shelter in the summer of 2024.

 

She has been waiting ever since.

 

Despite everything she has experienced, Kassidy still wants nothing more than to belong to someone.

 

She enjoys other dogs when given proper introductions and, once she decides another dog is her friend, she is all in — besties for life. Because of her past experiences with other dogs, she can initially be protective of toys, but she has worked extensively on this through training and now happily plays and shares toys alongside her dog friends.

 

Kassidy is also wonderfully connected to her handler. She has excellent recall, wants to stay close, and will happily follow her person wherever they go. She doesn’t need endless exercise or constant entertainment; a little playtime followed by being near the people she loves sounds like a pretty perfect day to her.

 

What Kassidy needs most is presence and consistency.

 

After being abandoned and bounced around early in life, being left alone can still make her anxious. She has made tremendous progress through training and has learned how to be home alone, but her ideal family is one where someone is around much of the day and extended periods alone aren’t the norm. A retiree, someone who works from home, a household with staggered schedules, or simply someone whose lifestyle allows their dog to be part of everyday life could be a wonderful match.

 

Kassidy doesn’t need someone to feel sorry for her.

 

She needs someone to finally see her.

 

For more than two years, this incredibly loving, intelligent girl has watched and waited while other dogs found their families. Somewhere out there is the person who is going to look into those big, soft eyes and realize that Kassidy wasn’t asking for too much.

 

She was just waiting for the right person to come along.
